Gourmet Chocolate Boxes

If you’ve been in a relationship for any length of time, it’s likely that you will have found yourself in the doghouse at least once.  It’s never a pleasant sensation and it can be difficult to regain your good standing, but one of the most effective things you can do to regain your status is to come home with gourmet chocolate boxes.

There have been many studies on the mind-altering properties of chocolate.  If my wife is any indication, one doesn’t need to actually consume the chocolate to have one’s mind altered… Just the sight of the gourmet chocolate box is enough to bring a smile to her face, no matter how annoyed with me she might be at the time.

Chocolate is often considered the food of love.  When Valentine’s Day rolls around, stores are bursting with chocolates.  From chocolate filled hearts, to chocolate roses, the reason there is so much chocolate for sale is that there is a societal convention that equates chocolate with love.

Because I know how much my wife loves chocolate, I try to bring her some on a regular basis, for no reason.  Gourmet chocolate is not something she would typically buy herself, so this special treat goes a long way to keeping the home fires burning.

I think I’ve got a good marriage.  My wife and I are honest with each other and sincere in our dealings with each other.  We love each other and neither of us hesitates to show it.  But that doesn’t mean that we don’t have the occasional argument.  When we do fight, I find a box of chocolates goes a long way towards getting my wife’s attention.  Just that small gesture of goodwill helps to facilitate the process.  Somehow, the chocolate always seems to work better than flowers, not that she doesn’t appreciate the flowers.  My friends also find this to be the case.

One word of warning:  Make sure that your significant other gets to eat the lion’s share of the chocolates or you’ll be in even more hot water than before!  Obviously, it is a much better idea to try and avoid getting thrown in the doghouse in the first place.  But we all know that “to err is human, and to forgive is divine.” If you’ve erred, gourmet chocolate boxes can help facilitate the forgiveness, and they are divine to boot!
